Let’s Talk About Makeup-L’ORÉAL Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation

Hey friends, it’s time for another “Let’s Talk About Makeup”!!!

So today I want to talk about my new favorite foundation,

L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation.

I first saw it on Ulta’s website a few weeks and it sounded right up my alley since it’s for oily skin, mattifying, and offers medium coverage. A few days later I went with my mom to Ulta to celebrate my progress at PT and I decided to grab some new foundations on a whim . I now have these makeup reviews to use as an “excuse” to buy more makeup haha!

I have combination skin, super oily through my T-zone with some dehydration on my cheeks. My face is ALWAYS oily. It drives me crazy and no foundation is ever able to completely make it matte.

UNTIL NOW.

As soon as I put it on, I could feel a difference in the texture of it compared to the foundations I use. It felt very light and almost “drier” than the ones I typically use. It sets fairly quickly and it became very obvious that once it dried, my skin was matte just like the skin of my dreams.

I was super excited that the color matched as I purchased another foundation (True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation ) the same day and it was SO orange on me. Pop over to keepitclassy_1’s instagram to see swatches over every shade of Infallible Pro-Matte.

L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Matte 24hr Foundation is a light to medium coverage which I like since I hate totally covering my freckles. I have always struggled to find a foundation that evens out my redness while not COMPLETELY covering my freckles. The Pro-Matte foundation does just that and also blends really well (use a damp beauty blender for the best results as it does dry quickly).  I was most shocked at how I didn’t even need a setting powder and have gone out a few times with just the foundation. I usually need HD translucent setting powder or a pressed powder to set my foundation and not look so oily.

Here’s a picture showing the coverage. The foundation is applied to only the left side of my face (makeup details at the end of the post).

As you can see L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation definitely evens out my pink undertone, broken capillaries, and blemishes (thank you hormones) BUT doesn’t completely cover my freckles and looks very natural. I hate feeling like I have a lot of foundation on but this magical foundation feels like you are wearing nothing.

Here’s the 411:

Pros:

  • TRULY mattifying so if you don’t like shine, this foundation is for you!
  • Blends well
  • Medium coverage for those who don’t want full coverage
  • Photographs beautifully
  • The collection is mainly warm toned, LOTS of yellow undertones which is rare with drug store makeup.
  • Lasts long, I’ve worn it all day a few times and it has held up well.

Cons:

  • No SPF
  • Since it is mattifying it can accentuate dry skin VERY EASILY.
  • There’s not a TON of colors to choose from, especially if you have a darker complexion.
  • Those who are more cool toned may have issues matching their skin because of the color line up being more warm toned.
  • Not full coverage (if that’s your thing this isn’t the foundation for you)

This is what I looked like once I applied the foundation all over my face (sorry they are with my phone, my camera decided it needed a battery charge halfway through) You can see how matte my skin looks and how well it blends.

For those who have dry and dehydrated skin L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation would be a good foundation to try instead of this one. You can also try the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation. I briefly mentioned the Lumi Cushion above in this post,  sadly it made my skin VERY oily looking and was too orange. However  I think would be great for someone who has dry/dehydrated skin.

Overall I love L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation and will absolutely repurchase it again. It fits all my needs and you can’t beat the price!

  1. I’ve heard so many great things about this and I reallllly want to try it, but I have a ton of dry skin up around my eyebrow line and forehead and some foundations really bring that out. You said it might accentuate that so that…well…makes me frown haha. I might still have a go at it anyhow though! It looks gorgeous on you 🙂

    1. You could deal with the dry skin a few different ways. 1-DEFINITELY use a primer, this is something everyone should do anytime they wear foundation. 2-You could do a moisturizing foundation in the areas that are dry and the pro-matte foundation everywhere else. 3-treat the dry skin-I would suggest changing your exfoliation routine. Try getting some glycolic pads and using them every other day to start. I would also add in a hydrating serum to work with the exfoliation. Look for a product with Hyaluronic acid, thats a GREAT ingredient to use for areas that are constantly dry and dehydrated 🙂 Hope this helps!

      1. You are AMAZING. Thank you so much for the detailed and helpful response, seriously!! One thing I miss out on is primer…I don’t always apply it…oops. I am going to make you cringe by saying this, but I rarely even exfoliate, so that would definitely be a step up. I guess if I just even HAD a regular skincare routine that would help instead of randomly applying products every now and then haha. But yes, thank you so much!

        1. Aw Chelsea you are SO welcome. I adore talking about skincare so please feel free to ask questions anytime, it makes me feel like I am “working again”. Primer will be SUPER helpful for you and so will exfoliation 😉 xo.
